Responsibilitieso Assist with building the weekly menu and food order.
o Supervise the dining hall operations, including table setting, placement of food at mealtimes, cleaning of tables, floors and walls.
o Supervise the cleaning and care of the kitchen.
o Store and prepare all food.
o Supervise the Tripping Food Manager on all food for hikes, approving menus, quantity and quality.
o Update the Kitchen manual as needed
o Participate in the hiring of kitchen staff
o Assign all tasks for kitchen crew and ensure they are done with excellence.
o Develop the kitchen staff’s a sense of service, and unity with the whole DL staff.
o Train staff and volunteers in proper procedures and safe use of kitchen equipment.
o While camp is in session, meet weekly with the Camp Director for prioritization and review of food service.
o Keep kitchen equipment files in order and work with the Office Manager to ensure timely booking of invoices.
o Participate with support staff in ‘Staff night out’ events each summer.
o Lead a weekly Bible study for the Food Service Staff while camp is in session.
o Conduct written seasonal evaluations of Kitchen staff and solicit feedback from staff. Give copies of all evaluation forms to the Camp Director

• Minimum Qualifications:

o Successful Experience in a camp or institutional food-service setting
o Skills in supervision
o Ability to relate well to others
o Desire and ability to work in a camp setting
o Responsible to the Camp Director
• Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
The ability to successfully motivate and manage diverse personalities and performances, good interpersonal skills, good communication, active listening, innovative thinking, and good problem-solving skills.
• Position Description
Excellent food service management is critical to the entire camp operation and mission. The Head Chef will maintain a high standard for DL food nutrition, food quality and ensure all food service procedures comply with Dept of Health and food safety practices. In addition, they must be an example of Christian living and intentionally invest in the spiritual lives of the staff.
