|Title||Culinary Arts Director
|Responsibilities||Continue to develop and enhance in its entirety the SC Culinary Arts occupational training program, based on the guiding philosophy of Appropriate Independence™, including the curriculum.
Evaluate occupational training needs of the students and facilitate ongoing student training.
Serve as the primary instructor for Culinary Arts, utilizing effective training methods.
Assess students’ knowledge, understanding, and skill acquisition on a regular basis.
Oversee student placement and evaluation at field experiences; establish ongoing field experience opportunities, and oversee placement and evaluation.
Maintain accreditation by meeting standards related to the Culinary Arts program.
Work with the Culinary Arts Advisory Team and ensure that its work meets accreditation standards and its feedback is reviewed, evaluated and implemented as appropriate in the training program.
Manage the budget for the Culinary Arts program.
Oversee the work of the Culinary Arts Assistant and provide training as appropriate.
Collaborate with the Commercial Kitchen Lead to align culinary initiatives to promote the training of students for employment.
Plan and coordinate catering events, such as Preview Days, Open House, Chamber sponsored events, etc.
Annually review the overall program and its effectiveness, making necessary changes to enhance its overall effectiveness in an effort towards continuous improvement.
Attend SC faculty meetings and serve on an SC faculty team, as assigned.
Food Service Supervisor
Oversee and collaborate with the Commercial Kitchen Lead and Food Service Manager to:
o Establish a Culinary Arts / Food Service mission statement to serve as a filter and guide to evaluate ongoing services and future opportunities.
o Create the yearly budget for Food Services and establish accurate and appropriate pricing for the various services provided.
o Develop, implement, and evaluate a food production system that utilizes and provides training to Culinary Arts students.
o Incorporate the work of Shepherds College students in Food Services in order to provide a comprehensive training experience for each student.
o Determine a means of assessment for students as they serve in Food Services.
o Order and purchase supplies and equipment as necessary; or delegate to Commercial Kitchen Lead.
o Develop long-range goals and plans to best address the changing needs and opportunities related to Culinary Arts and Food Service.
o Provide catering services for special events, including, but not limited to, board meetings, commencement celebrations, and staff parties.
Shepherds Community Cafe:
Provide leadership and supervision to the Café Manager.
