POSITION PURPOSE / SUMMARY:

The Kitchen Manager is responsible for oversight of daily operations of the Murrieta Hot Springs Christian Conference Center Kitchen. The ideal candidate will use his/her prior leadership, ministry, and managerial experience to supervise the departments of the Kitchen, assist in growing the department, maintain quality standards, train and motivate employees, and provide operational and financial analysis. He/she is expected to demonstrate and disciple the staff in Christ-like, servant-oriented leadership and have a passion for encouraging exceptional customer service and a strong, cohesive team.

RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES / FUNCTIONS / TASKS
• Directly supervise Kitchen sub-department leads and supervisors including: Cooks, Prep Team, Baker, Dishwashers, and Dining Room.
• Administrate daily operations and make necessary decisions with the guidance of the Director and Assistant Director, including but not limited to: scheduling, time card management, employee discipline, and hiring.
• Maintains quality standards for department, including but not limited to: plating techniques, food tasting, and recipe design, and food quality.
• Manage and maintain operational budget for Kitchen Department.
• Conduct operational and safety training (as needed) for department staff.
• Produce and present reports on various aspects of the department.
• Conduct various projects at the request and direction of the Director and Assistant Director.
• Track financial and operational statistics and provide meaningful analysis.
• Participate in the creation of seasonal menus.

REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS
• Must be a mature and committed believer in Jesus Christ, with active membership/attendance in a local church.
• Bachelors degree or equivalent.
• Minimum of three years experience leading teams or supervising others.
• Ability to manage a team in a fast-paced work environment.
• Strong leadership skills, with the ability to coach and mentor others.
• Advanced verbal and written communication and listening skills.
• Ability to problem-solve, while demonstrating advanced organization and planning skills.
• Flexibility to work during evenings and weekends
• Advanced knowledge and experience in analytical software, including Microsoft Excel.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
• Certification from a culinary school or degree in Restaurant Management.
• Experience in commercial kitchen or restaurant.
• Strong work ethic and pride in execution.
• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
• Commitment to customer satisfaction and service excellence.
• Prior experience in Camp or Conference Center industry.

PHYSICAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit or stand for extended periods of time; walk; bend; lift; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Specific hearing abilities required include soft and loud sounds.

TitleLead Cook
ResponsibilitiesThe Lead Cook will be responsible for planning, evaluating, and updating menus for retreats, staff meals, and special events. They will be responsible for directing food preparation in the kitchen and supervising the cook staff as well as cooking alongside them. The Lead Cook will report to the Kitchen Manager and coordinate with the Associate Business Coordinators regarding menu items. The ideal candidate will have a strong relationship with Jesus Christ, will look forward to challenges with a positive outlook, understand cooking procedures, demonstrate the ability to train kitchen team members, and will have creative ideas for menus that are within budget.

RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES / FUNCTIONS / TASKS

Assist in creation of menus for seasonal retreats, staff dining, and special events.
Prepare menu items according to recipes.
Assist with day-to-day operations such as overseeing the cook team, quality control, and training.
Ensure that all food and other items are stored properly in compliance with nutrition and sanitation guidelines.
Participate in creation of prep lists for the prep team.


REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS

Culinary experience is required.
Demonstrate proficiency in culinary skills, including but not limited to: food preparation, cooking techniques, industry standards, etc.


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

Certification from a culinary school or degree in Restaurant Management.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Understands cooking procedures and has ability to train staff on these procedures.
Strong problem-solving, organization, and administrative skills.
Demonstrates the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Specific hearing abilities required include soft and loud sounds.
