ResponsibilitiesThe Bowery Mission is a holistic, Christian faith-based organization dedicated to serving the homeless by providing compassionate care and life transformation services. As a key member of the Food Services team at the Bowery Mission, the Food Services Associate will be responsible to coordinate as well as participate in all of the daily activities of the food service personnel as they prepare, cook, and serve three (3) meals daily. The Associate's responsibilities will include meal prep, maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen equipment, supervising volunteers and overseeing the organization of all daily food deliveries and donations to the kitchen.

Since the kitchens are often operated by large groups of volunteers, this role requires someone capable of managing a high level of detail with patience, all while supervising people who may or may not have previous experience working in the kitchen.

Reports to: Food Services Director

Requirements:

-Embraces the organization's Statement of Faith
-Passion to work in community to serve those experiencing homelessness
-Professional demeanor with co-workers, volunteers, residents, vendors and the public
-Organized, coachable, dependable, adaptable and honest
-Strong verbal communication skills
-Able to bend, squat, sit, and lift 50 lbs and stand for long periods of time
-Able to obtain NYC Food Protection Certificate
-High School Diploma

Preferred:

-Two years kitchen experience
-Valid Driver's License

The Associate's responsibilities will include meal prep, maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen equipment, supervising volunteers and overseeing the organization of all daily food deliveries and donations to the kitchen.
