|Title||Assistant Head Cook
|Responsibilities||The Assistant Head Cook reports to the Head Cook is responsible for working with the Head Cook in cooking and cleaning the kitchen, in overseeing kitchen staff and volunteers, and in being ministry minded as he/she serves.
-Oversee all kitchen operations during assigned shift
-Participate in the planning and preparation of meals
-Assist in the overall day to day prep of meals
-Assist with weekly meal planning including for those with special dietary needs
-Follow standardized recipes
-Be familiar with kitchen equipment operations including mixer, dish machine, and Rondo machine
Cleaning and Organization
-Help maintain inventory and food orders
-Maintain kitchen cleanliness and organization
-Abide by all Department of Health regulation
-Work with the Head Cook to create work schedules for kitchen staff and volunteers
-Be the team leader of the shift working with volunteers
-Care for Kitchen Staff and Volunteers and identify ministry opportunities among them
|Pay||$500-700 weekly plus room and board
|Timeline||Full Time seasonal (Memorial Day to Labor Day)
|Title||Food Services Manager & Head Cook
|Responsibilities||The Food Services Manager & Head Cook will be responsible for all aspects of kitchen operations at the FOCUS Study Center. Specifically, this person will:
Direct and participate in kitchen operations, including planning, food preparation, cooking, and cleanup to produce quality meals for approximately 65-140 participants during the program season.
Train and supervise kitchen staff (including Assistant Head Cook and Vineyard Staff) and volunteers in the preparation and presentation of food.
Oversee weekly meal planning; including special dietary needs. Work with Facilities Managers to achieve our goals for food quality, meal economies, ease of preparation, and clean-up.
Direct one daily shift during the program season, and supervise an Assistant Head Cook who will lead meal preparation for the alternate shift each day of the program season.
Follow standardized recipes, making sure any advantageous or necessary changes are recorded using our software.
Be familiar with common kitchen equipment including mixer, Hobart dishwasher, etc.
Inspect raw and cooked food items to ensure good quality.
Manage inventory for food and supplies; including orders, returns, and payment approvals; maintain good vendor relationships.
Work with Facilities Managers to maintain kitchen equipment; schedule repairs and additional maintenance as needed.
Work with the Facilities Managers to develop short and long-term goals and strategies to meet the needs of the kitchen operations.
Make sure that all kitchen staff and volunteers adhere to food safety and hygiene regulations to ensure a clean and sanitary kitchen in compliance with health department requirements.
Welcome, assess, and utilize kitchen volunteers.
Participate in the life and fellowship of the Study Center community.
