| Responsibilities | This is a unique opportunity at a remote wilderness lodge in Alaska which will include many fun experiences in addition to the fulfilling cooking job. If you've worked in a kitchen, you understand it's hard work. You'll be preparing breakfast, lunch, dinner, desserts, breads, salads, appetizers, and many items from scratch for between 10 and 30 staff/guests daily. Keeping the kitchen and dining room clean and doing dishes are very important parts of the job as well as unloading supply planes of food. Whatever it takes to help the kitchen run smoothly, we all pitch in and help no matter the task. There will also be some light housekeeping duties at times including switching out beds, cleaning rooms, bathrooms and windows. Since it's seasonal work and a short season, the plan is to work 6 days a week with a day off. Depending on the schedule, we may need to adjust the day off to fit the needs of our guests. There will be some very long days, but also, if you work hard and plan appropriately, there should be plenty of downtime throughout the day as well. | Other Details | If you're not familiar with our operation, we're the oldest hunting and recreation lodge in Alaska est. 1937, we're a check point on the Iditarod trail, we're a family run operation, we run youth camps in the summer to help at-risk youth in our community, we are about 80% repeat and referral based business and we have a great culture and crew with staff returning for multiple years in a row, several over a decade. We're looking for a couple of people we can train in the kitchen to join our team. |
